Cute Harajuku Review - Karuta Cosplay Wig

Hello there!

I'm back with another review, this time for my sponsor Cute Harajuku! I was sponsored an item of my choice for completing a Christmas opportunity set by them and I chose a Karuta (Inu X Boku) cosplay wig!

It arrived about 2 weeks after it was shipped, which is very good as this was around Christmas time! I was quite surprised to see this package come so early :3

This is how they were stored inside of the packaging. The base wig is in its own bag and both of the pony tail clips were kept in another bag :) They were all stuffed lightly with paper filling to hold their shape and covered in a net to protect them and hold they together during their travels. The cardboard pieces inside the bag helped make sure the bag wasn't squished and potentially break the precious cargo.

When I put on the wig, this is how it looks! It's so cute!

As you can see, it is very easily decorated with bows and clips. I only used two bows and four clips, but you can use as many as you want and it will still look very adorable! Please note that the wig only looks shiny in this picture because my flash is on! It is not as shiny without flash!

Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to cosplay with this wig as Karuta, yet, as I am waiting for my cosplay from SpreePicky to arrive!

For those who are unfamiliar with this style of wig, the wig has three components! The first part of the wig is the base wig, which can be worn by itself if you want. I think this look is very chic on my square face!

Don't be fooled by the small wig stand! The bottom of the wig sweeps below my chin quite sweetly!

The next two component of this wig are the pony tails, which are the fibres hand sown around a clip to attach them onto the wig. This is what it looks like!

If you are looking for a very thick wig with lots of hair, this is probably not the wig for you. I found that the base, especially around the fringe, was pretty thin compared to my wigs from Arda, though Arda's wigs are notorious for being super thick so that is a quite the unfair comparison! I believe that this thinness is caused from the split part for the fringe being closer to the front than my other wigs. I don't believe it is too much of a problem and in fact makes it much easier to style even without products.

Other than the thinness, I have yet to encounter any problems with it! It is very easy to brush and very, very soft. Incredibly soft. Like a pink bunny. I'm not even exaggerating, I've owned four bunnies and this feels like a bunny!

To top it all off, this wig is heat proof up to 180 Degrees Celcius, which is very high standards for synthetic wigs. I am not sure as to the specific fibre used, though it feels as though it could be a soft form of hiperlon but don't take my word for it! I could be wrong!

Also, when I first got this wig, the pony tails were rather curly but I found this to irritating as they were curled in the same direction as each other and decided that I was going to use my hair dryer to quickly loosen some of the curls into nice, thick waves. I also think this texture matches my school styled Karuta cosplay as the curly version was for the maid style Karuta!

Now for the ratings:

Colour: 10/10
I looooovveeeee the colour of this wig. My other pink wig has multiple coloured fibres and tends to appear more red. This wig is all one colour and is a softer shade of pink! I really like it ^.^

Thickness: 7/10
It can't compare to the thickness of an Arda wig, but it isn't thin anywhere other than the fringe so it deserves at least a 7! And really, the fringe isn't that thin, I am just used to very thick wigs xD

Affordability: 8/10
I think this wig is definitely worth it if you have the money. This wig can achieve many styles depending on which components you want to use and where you want to place them! Though at $25USD, this wig may be above some of your budgets if you are only a casual or beginner wig wearer which is why I am only giving it an 8!

Fibre Quality: 8/10
This wig is soft, heat proof and appears amazing. That's all you could ask for, right? Well, the only problem is is that a wig this soft has some trouble being teased and puffed, so someone with little experience adding volume to hair may struggle to make this wig (especially the base) to do exactly as you want it to. But hey, its soft, cute and heat proof which is pretty damn awesome. Also, it's incredibly easy to brush and doesn't tangle very much!

Overall: 8/10
Though this wig is quickly becoming a new favourite of mine, I am rating it as a rough average of the other scores. I really, really like this wig and intend to wear it quite often. I love how soft it is and how feminine I look. I especially love that I look cutesy and childish when I have the clips on and then if I remove them, suddenly I am appearing mature and very chic.

I am quite proud to be a sponsor of Cute Harajuku, and very happy to have had this opportunity to work with this store. I am sure this will not be the last time you hear about Cute Harajuku.

Again, here is the link to THE WIG which is $25USD. If you use my code, you can get 10% off your entire order from this store!

I hope you enjoyed reading this review and I hope that it helped you decide whether or not you want to purchase this wig!

ByeBye for now!
